About

I am a small animal veterinary surgeon (MRCVS) with over fifteen years of clinical experience in UK practice, working across first-opinion medicine and surgery.Originally from Japan, I trained in Australia before building my veterinary career in the UK. Working as a native Japanese speaker within the British veterinary system has given me a long-standing interest in how clinical culture, informed consent, animal welfare, and the veterinarian–client relationship can be understood differently across countries, not only linguistically, but also professionally and culturally.Alongside clinical practice, I have worked in English–Japanese veterinary interpretation and editorial roles, particularly in areas related to veterinary education and professional communication. This cross-border perspective continues to shape how I approach communication within veterinary medicine.I hold a Bachelor of Veterinary Science from the University of Melbourne and am a member of the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons (MRCVS). I have also contributed to NHK as a guest commentator on animal welfare topics, bringing a clinical perspective to public-facing discussion in Japan.

Areas of Interest

My clinical work centres on small animal medicine and surgery, with a particular interest in veterinary acupuncture as part of an integrated approach to patient care.Alongside clinical practice, I have a growing interest in areas where clear, culturally informed communication is especially important — including animal health certification and pet travel, veterinary education and CPD, and animal welfare communication. These are often areas where precise language alone is not enough, and where an understanding of both English-speaking and Japanese veterinary contexts becomes genuinely valuable.
